The House That Joe Built

This is the house that
Joe built.....

the foundation
and
the builder.

Lots of people see Joe at sales
and shows
with me and assume that we do the
 vintage junking and selling
full time as a team.
Which has been true for the past
 18 months.
In "real " life Joe is a
construction contractor.
Uh ,oh . That's not good these days :)
There's not alot of that going on.
Which works for Joe 'cause
he loves to junk and do the shows.

But, Joe is a very good builder and remodeler.
He is especially good at remodeling
kitchens and bathrooms.
This is our house that
 he built for our family.
Joe did so much of the work on it himself
that it took over 9 months before we could move in.
We had 2 house payments going at that time ,
I will
 Never
do that again!
 Very important feature here -
a 2 car garage  (sigh )

We purchased the 1890's mantel in a shop in Aurora.
Please excuse all the clutter :)
It really is gorgeous
Yep , that's Joe up there on the ladder
doing the siding and trim.
I can't believe I
watched him
let alone took pictures

Here it is the following summer  ,
I choose to paint it plum.
I loved that color.
We even had it repainted once while we
lived there and I choose plum again.
Today I would probably paint it
gray
 with white trim.
 A few years went by
and
our girl
 grew up
 and
got married ,
 had 3 kids
and
 needed a bigger house.
I said buy this one that your Dad built
so they did.
It was 3 bedrooms and they need four
so
 Joe added on another room

Here is the house that Joe built
today.
Jen promptly painted over the plum paint
with a lovely shade of green :)

This is the darling
little playhouse
that Joe built for his
grand-daughters.

We didn't have any plans or specification.,
I saw a picture in a magazine
and
asked
" can you build this ?"

Of course he could! We named it the
Morewood Estate
"cause it took waaay more wood then
we
thought it would , lol!
Home Depot was our best friend those days.
We custom ordered little doors and windows -
 it even has a loft

Hopefully ,
one of our 3 grandchildren
will make it their
home
someday.
 Meanwhile ,
Joe and I are very happy in the little
( 800 square foot cottage )
with the one car garage :(
that we moved to.
He completely remodeled it , it's so dang cute.
Little , but cute and just the right size for 2.
As soon as I get a few projects done
I'll post some photos.
