Snow and lilacs don't mix

We awoke this morning to this,
two of our large lilacs were brought down by the heavy
snow.
They actually landed on my car but Joe
had moved them by the time I
ran out to snap a photo
The lilacs are old , from the 1940's when the
little cottage was first built.

We've been slowly trying to remove the
older growth
( they are all as tall as the roofline)
Apparently, Mother Nature
didn't think we were moving quickly enough :)

I am not a big fan of snow.
It is
 lovely
to watch the big flakes make their way to the ground
but
I like snow when it doesn't stick

I was born and raised in wintery , snowy states

 Minnesota
and
 Wisconsin

There were many mornings waiting for the school bus
in
white out conditions.

Those states do not give in to
snow.
We in Oregon do ...
1" - 2"
on the ground and we are snowbound !

 Since I was "snowbound"
yesterday
I worked on my
new
 little

on
Etsy

Most of my time was working on the
" Policies "
portion of the shop.
The business side of the business is not
nearly as fun as the
 shopping side.

I did manage to get one item listed.
I have
sooo
much more to list.
If today co-operates and we don't lose power
again
I should have more items listed this evening.
Be sure to check back.

Oh girl, the policy stuff is the yukky part, for sure. The shopping flea markets part is fantastic!!! Can't wait to check back later and see what else you have added.

Hope the snow melts soon for you.

Blessings, Amy

Sorry about your lilacs...I hope they come back for you next spring...maybe this is natures way of trimming them down!

Best wishes with your new shop! It's going to be a fun adventure for you!

Jane

Oh, that's too bad. I've always loved those old lilac bushes that grow next to old houses.

I'm pretty much done with all this snow and having no power. I need to be able to work on junk to take up to my booth....why doesn't Mother Nature understand:-)

Take care and stay warm.

Not the lilacs! One of my favorite spring flowers. Hope you car survived and hope those lilacs still leaf out in the spring!

My condolences. I'm not a huge fan of snow, either. It's a chore to shovel and can be nasty to drive in.

We have had a relatively 'mild' winter snow-wise. However, it's super cold here with the high for tomorrow of only about 5 degrees.

I have cabin fever and need to go check out your Etsy shop.;-)

Lilacs are one flowering shrub I wish would grow here in Texas. It's just not suited for our hot summers, although Mother would always talk about playing under a huge one as a child. Maybe my grandmother knew something I don't!
Glad it was just the shrubs...and not your roof.
Girl...if we get even a flake the whole city "hunkers" down and there isn't a loaf of bread to be begged, borrowed or stolen at the market. LOL
Good luck with your ETSY. I tried it, but I was just too lazy to keep it up.

EIght stinking inches of the white stuff here, in Puget Sound... and YEP, we give into it too. The hubby's been home since early Monday and I've cooked up a storm. Quite an occasion here, at the cottage.

Sorry about your lilacs. I'm thinking this will be the second year of NO stinking hydrangea blooms. NUTS.

Stay warm!

Blessings,
Spencer

Just discovered your blog and look forward to making regular stops. I'm from Mn and just FYI-----we're waiting for snow! Brown ground doesn't t quite have the sparkle that snow does. would love to get to your area, but will have to satisfied looking at pics and reading your entries. Smiles
